Michael Hainsworth shot to prominence in Toronto news more than a decade ago following the fatal airshow crash of the RAF Nimrod into the waters off the Canadian National Exhibition. As the only reporter on the scene, the nation's newsrooms relied on up-to-the-minute reports from Hainsworth and Canada's largest radio news station, 680 News. In his last two years with 680 News, Hainsworth took on the roles of business reporter and editor, responsible for taking complex financial concepts and stories and making them understandable to a general listening audience. He got his first taste of broadcasting as a producer for Toronto's CKFM 99.9 in 1989, and later expanded his experience in the newsrooms of CFOS in Owen Sound and CFRB 1010 in Toronto.
